How to create HTML TABLEs in WordPress blog post easily?

How to create HTML TABLEs in WordPress blog post easily? As I know HTML, creating tables are not a big deal for me. But recently one of my client tried to create a page in her blog and she was struggling to insert a table. She tried for a while searching for online tutorials, but failed. So she contacted me for an easy solution.

I searched WordPress plugin directory and found a few plugins those can help in inserting html tables. Here is a list of top 3 plugins I would recommend to anyone.

Easy Table Creator By PolyVision

This plugin uses the text editor (TinyMCE) to help create your table, no coding necessary! Click a button, and a popup screen will allow you to create table headers, table rows, and table footers. When you are finished, the plugin will then insert the table into your blog post. It uses the jQuery table sorter plugin to nicely format the table and make things sortable.

  • Advantages:
    • Simple screen, easy to use.
    • Popup jQuery screen while you are in the post.
    • Built-in sorting option.
  • Disadvantages:
    • No import option; it will be hard if you have a large table and you have to insert each data manually.

WP-Table

This plugin creates and manages tables for wordpress. So you can post i.e. sport results in a fixed table format. You don’t need to enter tables anymore in the plain text mode and the WYSIWYG editor didn’t damage the table layout. The table layout can be changed via a css file and you can import a csv file as table.

  • Advantages:
    • Data import option; no manual data entry for large tables.
  • Disadvantages:
    • Manage tables from Dashboard
    • No sorting option

WP-Table Reloaded

WP-Table Reloaded enables you to create and manage tables in your WP’s admin area. No HTML knowledge is needed. A comfortable backend allows to easily edit table data. Tables can contain any type of data and additional JavaScript libraries can be used to extend it with features like sorting, pagination, filtering, and more. You can include the tables into your posts, on your pages or in text widgets by using a shortcode or a template tag function. Tables can be imported and exported from/to CSV, XML and HTML.

  • Advantages:
    • Data can be imported/exported from/to CSV, XML & HTML
    • Built-in sorting, pagination, filtering features.
  • Disadvantages:
    • Manage tables from Dashboard

Hope this post will help you in creating HTML table in your posts or pages, save you time & let you concentrate in blogging.
